The Do Something Awards are held each year by VH1 in the US to recognise real people who have done something to change their communities or environment for the better. It also recognises the celebrities who inspire them by using their influence and power for good. And that means that we get to enjoy some fun red carpet fashion while people are rewarded for the right reasons. Double yay. So who was best dressed on the carpet?
I am going to vote, right off the bat, for Sophia Bush. Not only do I love One Tree Hill (so?), and her Tibi dress and Jimmy Choo heels, but I particularly love the fact that she built her outfit around her clutch bag - it is a woven bag by Hand Up Not Hand Out, benefitting rural women in Africa. So not only did she get awarded for her rallying calls on Twitter around the oil spill destruction, but she also gave a shout out to the fashion projects on our continent. What's not to love?
Brittany Snow (anyone know what she's been in?) looked super cute in a structured dress by Camilla and Marc and outstanding shoes by Zanotti. Olivia Wilde must be commended her her look (dress by Chloe, shoes by Choo) for two reasons. It's not black and her hair is slightly easy-mussed. Congrats lady.
A riot of colour came courtesy of Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson who wore such a cute pink dress that suddenly I wish I was a 20-something and could wear a frock like that! One of my idols, Amy Poehler was dazzling in yellow Max Mara. I love, love, love it. And her. Obvs. (If you don't want Parks and Recreation on Vuzu, what is wrong with you?) And the other lady in colour, also on our screens at the moment in America's Next Top Model, is Miss Tyra Banks. the outfit is so wrong it is almost right. Colour blocking is like that.
Then let me mention for the sake of my loyal readers, another couple that I think are beyond cute - Dax Shepherd (on our screens in Parenthood) and his wife Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress most notably). How awesome are they? I want them to be my friends and come over for dinner. Kristen is wearing Etro, by the by, but we wouldn't talk about that. We would just laugh and be witty. And possibly talk about how adorable David Beckham and his eldest son Brooklyn were at the event. Right? So, over to you as ever, who is your best dressed of the event?
