While Armani Prive was all about the pants, Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld said something completely different with his haute couture collection for Chanel - and it was that the skirt is back. Maxi or midi, slim-line or fish-tail, every outfit had a skirt. Oh, and by the way, there is a new Chanel jacket silhouette. Yes, that's right folks, it now has a peplum. Can you believe it?
With a set designed to be the Place Vendome at night - inside the very grand Grande Palais - at ten o'clock in the evening (unlike our SA fashion weeks, Haute Couture Week is usually a day-time affair), the pinnacle was the effigy of Coco Chanel atop the plinth where Napoleon stands.
The front row was, of course, dominated by the usual Chanel suspects, including a resplendent Diane Kruger, a cute-as-anything Alexa Chung and an ethereal Caroline Sieber. All looking beautiful.
