This weekend two exhibitions opened showing the wedding dresses of the two young women who have recently become European princesses. Let's start at home, with onse HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco. Fresh and relaxed and glowing on her first day back from her official honeymoon in Mozambique, she wore a lovely summery and relaxed floral maxi dress by Roberto Cavalli and paired it with gold flats. This was perfect for the weather and to demonstrate a mood of relaxed optimism. Her Armani dress is now on display as part of the "History of the Princely Wedding" exhibition at the Musée Océanographique in Monaco.
The same weekend, newly anointed princess, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, toured the exhibition of her Alexander McQueen wedding dress at Buckingham Palace with her grandmother in law, HRH The Queen. Looking somewhat more subdued, formal and beige, Kate was back in her pantyhose and heels for the occasion. I really do feel that a beautiful brooch or a ponytail or something could have made this look a little more youthful and less blah. This may be the only time so far that Charlene has pipped Kate to the style post. Do you guys agree?
