Uber-boss Ms Oprah Winfrey had the girls out when she went to the White House this past weekend for the 33rd Kennedy Centre Honours at in Washington DC where she received a very prestigious award as President Barack Obama said,
"Although the honorees on this stage each possess a staggering amount of talent, the truth is, they aren't being recognized tonight simply because of their careers as great lyricists or songwriters or dancers or entertainers, instead, they're being honored for their unique ability to bring us closer together and to capture something larger about who we are - not just as Americans, but as human beings."Which is particularly true of Oprah, a unifying figure around the globe.
And while the boss didn't necessarily look as spectacular as she has at big events recently, the wonderfully eclectic Gwen Stefani and the ever-glamorous Michelle Obama more than made up for it, in a great colour combo of canary yellow and maroon.
Comedian Chris Rock was on hand for the comic relief, and made fun of Oprah winning, as she would have enjoyed. He said
"No one deserves this award more than Oprah Winfrey, but no one needs it less. [Obama] didn't get her a job, she got him a job."
