I think that the short cut is thus: to move from Disney princess to grown-up-movie-person-taken-seriously you should always wear a Dolce & Gabbana corset and then frolic around looking sexy on a beach for a mainline magazine like Elle. Also, date another star and make sure we know you have sex.
The only problem with Selena Gomez is that she chose to date 'hopeless romantic' Justin Bieber, who will always be 12 in our minds. Also that she seems quite genuinely sweet.
And so hanging out with small niece people will always include a reference to Selena, whom they still love very much while all the others have fallen out of favour. And so she will not be taken seriously for quite some time still, I believe.
And that makes this cover shoot, styled by Joe Zee of all people, somewhat incongruous for me. I just think it is a bit weird. If quite pretty. Because Selena is pretty. And the clothes are quite pretty. I mean that alternative cover with the Dolce & Gabbana dress is gorgeous. And that red Lanvin that onse Charlize wore is divine. But weird, right? Or do you think that this works? Let me know. Totes happs to be wrong.
