This is the third time that Kate has worn Erdem, the rather cool London-based Canadian designer. The previous times the dresses were blue lace. This time she has gone for a rather more challenging folded portrait neck and an embroidered floral motif. The style itself is signature Erdem with the shift and 3/4 sleeves all very typical of his designs. Those earrings are from Links of London, in case you were wondering. Now you know.
And while I think that Kate looks lovely and appropriate and it is awesome to see a new dress in the midst of all the recycling, and I like that it is Erdem, I still am not massively loving this vibe. The pleated frocks and the sherbet and nude colours she has worn of late are so much more modern that this. The embroidery takes her usual conservative modern style an inch into dated territory. You know, for the older ladies. Like her mother-in-law. Not for a 30-year-old stunning young woman. So a solid 6/10 for this for me, I'm afraid. What about you guys?
