I spent a long time contemplating getting the real Louis Vuitton leopard print scarf that I desired with every ounce of my being. At R6000 for the 70% cashmere, 30% silk beauty designed by American artist Stephen Sprouse, it was a stretch and I eventually decided against it. It was a sad day. Now the news comes in that they have a limited edition version with gold accents in the fabric for R8000. Sigh.
For those of you who, like me, can't afford the real thing, Alex went out and found you some pretty cool versions of it.
You can get a very reasonably priced and beautifully made version from Habits for R850, which is also a cashmere and silk blend. It is luxurious and beautiful and really the next best thing.
If you need to watch the pennies a bit more, try the version from Cashmere at the V&A Waterfront for R399 or even from that new shop, Long Street at the V&A. Their version is only R199, although obviously doesn't have the fabric wow-factor.
