Lauren, Janet and Althea - Simple Style

Sometimes less is really more. You only need one piece to ensure your outfit is stylish. It can be a volume skirt, an oversized white shirt or a seersucker jacket. Just one simple, well constructed piece in good fabric as these ladies demonstrate.

Vanessa - Cropped Jacket

I love this jacket - such great detail.

Jené - Tunic Top

This is a beautiful tunic top, hitting the folk trend as well as playing with interesting proportions. Tunics are a great way to wear your skinny jeans now - both more flattering and more up to date.

Bridget and Chris - Red Gingham Shirts

Two on the same day is definitely a pattern. I have a strong feeling that this is going to be an excellent transitional look from our winter into spring so keep your eyes out for good ones.

Announcement: Baileys Takes Headline Sponsorship for Fashion Weekend

The Runway Fashion Weekend has secured headline sponsorship and it is the delicious drinks brand Baileys that has had the foresight to grab it first, beating off some stiff competition. Now it shall be known as The Baileys Fashion Weekend and I can't wait to see you all there on 16th and 17th August in Woodstock for designer shopping at discount prices. Doors open at 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday. Tickets are available from Computicket or at the door.
Here is the press release for more information:
Baileys®, the world’s no 1 selling cream liqueur, has partnered with The Runway and personal stylist Robyn Cooke, to become the headline sponsor of The Baileys Fashion Weekend, a first of its kind fashion event taking place on 16-17th August 2008.

The Baileys Fashion Weekend guerrilla store will open for two days only during the culmination of Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week, selling the work of leading South African designers in a stylish and relaxed environment. The guerrilla store trend is a global phenomenon and this is the first independent event of its kind to be held alongside a South African fashion week.

Confirmed designers and brands to date include Gavin Rajah, Give-It-Bag, Catherine Moore, Coast & Koi and selected designers from Portfolio amongst others. As a perfect accompaniment to the fashion the Baileys bar will be serving Baileys over ice to visitors and DJs will provide a suitably stylish soundtrack.

“The Baileys Fashion Weekend takes South African design from the ramps to our consumers’ wardrobes. Whilst Fashion Weeks present future trends to the industry the Baileys Fashion Weekend will bring South African style to the public in one place. With the profits from the door going to Unicef this is also an opportunity to support a great cause. This event provides an excellent platform for both established designers and young talent to interact and sell to style conscious and discerning shoppers,” said Lauren Jones, Baileys National Brand Manager.

There is a small entrance fee of R25 for visitors to the event and 100% of the profits from the door will be donated to Unicef. In addition a fashion-amnesty will be run at the same time where people can bring along spare clothes to the store – these will all be given to those in need throughout the Western Cape.

Vista - Montecasino

I promised you more photos of Vista, and here you have one with him in his fushia shirt, cream pashmina and glorious brooch.

Spotted at Joburg Fashion Week

Although I know that the people in these photos include Jacqui Myburgh from the Frock Report and the lovely Mel from Glamour, there were so many people who I photographed at Joburg Fashion week looking super fine - and I really didn't have the faintest clue who they were! My excuse of course is that I have been living in the UK for the past 10 years so have really not kept up with local celebrity. But every once in a while these local celebs turn out to be fabulous people who are really worth getting to know. I have mentioned before how incredibly gracious Liezel from SABC3 was to me - and now I would like to add the wonderfully well mannered Jennifer Su to the list. Not only was she really patient with me as I snapped her and her fantastic hats, but she sent me an email to let me know how pleased she was to have met me - now that's what I call class!

Mahlatse - The Four Days of Joburg Fashion Week

It is seldom that you come across someone quite so stylishly adventurous as the amazing Mahlatse, who is from the most popular SA fashion blog, ifashion. I took a photo of his outfit each day of Joburg Fashion Week, each one beautifully crafted and thought through. Each one with the firm personal stamp of his own. Each one a little bit outlandish and brash, in the nicest possible way. That is, of course, the hallmark of personal style.
