I get asked to comment on plenty of fashion stories for magazines, newspapers and online portals. And every now and again, I get to learn more than I contribute. Every so often a story will grab me, possibly more than usual. The most recent of these is about the
Smarteez.
Written by Sandiso Ngubane for The Times, I had assumed that the Smarteez were a 2008/09 fad that had all but died out. I am wrong about that. They are alive and well and showcasing their latest style at SA Fashion Week - which is starting tomorrow in Jozi.
Sandiso got me thinking and I liked what I thought. I liked the positivity, the unique perspective, the bucking the trend attitude. I love that they are redefining classics, not being swept up in nouveau riche giddiness. Now that's what I call class.
Please take five minutes to read the
Smarteez story here and watch out for reports from SA Fashion Week.
