In a world filled with horrors of war and school shootings and natural disasters and revolting politics, the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton stands out as a beacon of levity and fun. Something to be hopeful about. Something to bring joy and reflection, tradition and fashion to the fore. I, for one, cannot wait for the 29th April and I am relishing every little detail and aspect of the build up.
And so, apparently, are others. A news neophyte, Kate Middleton, has now made it onto the cover of Newsweek. Looking suitably coy (straight from the Lady Di playbook) and pretty, the magazine notes how this one ordinary woman can bring is happiness in such troubled times.
Another influential business person feels the same way, but for different reasons. David Reiss, founder of edgy smart wear store Reiss, on the UK high street, is delighting in the positive impact of Kate wearing a Reiss dress in her official engagement photograph.
“It has been quite phenomenal because as a brand we’ve always been quite understated and if nothing Kate has given us that brand awareness in the States,” he said. “You can’t put in monetary terms what she’s done for the brand.”
