South African swimmer and Royal Fiancee, Charlene Wittstock, accompanied her husband-to-be His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco on an official visit to Ireland yesterday. They had a day-time outing when they visited the national gallery and then in the evening attended a state gala dinner hosted by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese and her partner.
Charlene started the day on a wobbly style note. The wholemeal-coloured suit is a bit dated and fusty and the leg should have been even wider to look contemporary and balance out her swimmer shoulder situation. It looked more acceptable when covered with the tail coat, which was a witty approach to the inclement weather one can expect in Ireland.
The evening, however, was a style triumph. The slate-coloured minimalist one-shoulder gown was perfect for her body and the occasion. Accessorised perfectly, Charlene looked like a modern-day princess in all the right ways. I definitely want to see more of this sort of style on her.
PS: My mate Janet is in Dublin this week. Hopefully she is getting to hang with Charlene too and can give the girl some tips. Janet is helpful that way.
