Dior Exhibition Opens. Joséphine de La Baume Glows As a New 'It' Girl
You may not know this but I absolutely worship the couture house that is Dior. I am particularly entranced by the golden years, from 1948 to around 1959, when they were re-energising couture after the war, retelling the story of how women presented themselves and celebrating the exquisite beauty of being a woman. No femininity or underpinning assistance was spared.
This subject brings out my uber-nerd.
Sadly this week I am living in the paradise that is Cape Town, thus preventing me from braving the cold and attending 'Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty' - an exhibition that opened at Somerset House in London yesterday.
The exhibition celebrates the work of renowned illustrator René Gruau (1909-2004), who created some of the most iconic fashion images of the 20th century, notably for Dior.
Attending the soiree to open the exhibition was a gorgeous French woman that we should all be keeping our style-watch firmly fixed on, Joséphine de La Baume, the actress and singer girlfriend of Mark Ronson. Gorgeous outfit most fitting for the occasion.
