How the iPad is Changing Fashion Week
Sitting at my desk, staring at my inoperable and powerless iPad, makes me very frustrated. The fact that it will all be sorted out in a week or so is no consolation right now. But it has made me a bit obsessed about how the iPad is changing fashion week this season. I bought mine specifically to be able to access the mood board application and the online magazine/ebooks. Also, of course, to be able to blog at will.
But over at New York Fashion Week access to the 'tents' is being done by iPad this year. The scanner and the iPad has replaced the PR girl and her clipboard. Shocker!
Also, those clever clogs people over at Burberry are deploying it in a way so as to increase sales around fashion week. Always at the forefront of using technology to change their customer interactions, this season Burberry have launched their 'Retail Theatre' concept. Basically what it means is that they will live stream the new collection show to their flagship stores worldwide, so that the lucky few in the 25 locations can experience it all in real time. They will also be given access to iPads in the stores, which will be loaded with a Burberry app allowing them insights and information on the looks in the collection - as well as to be able to order them for delivery within seven weeks - that's the speed of light in fashion terms!
There are so many other iPad fashion week innovations including the Daily Reviews which will be downloadable via a fashion week app and the brand new Style.com (that's Vogue US' online site) who have launched their app just in time for fashion week. I can't wait to get my iPad running as this is a free to download offering. And as you guys know - the more I know, the more you will all know. Simple.
