I have a few questions for you this morning. First, do you remember Pete Doherty? Talented musical genius, with a yen for painting in his own blood, serious drug issues, a sketchy prison record and a disastrous love affair with international supermodel Kate Moss. Also, jewellery designer and artist.
Second question, have you seen the cult classic The Kooples adverts in the international fashion magazines? You know the ones with cute hipster couples posing side-by-side and their relationship longevity detailed for all to see. Oh and awesome unisex clothes.
Well now these two elements come together as Pete Doherty has just announced that he will collaborate on men's and women's wear collections with French brand, The Kooples. I quote from the press release "Taking inspiration from the streets of Paris's Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the style of Victorian London, the collection will bridge the Brit-Parisian style divide, creating a lean silhouette with "dandy-chic" separates and military-style outerwear. The line of lightly ruffled shirts, flannel jackets and Soviet-inspired overcoats will be peppered throughout with fine knitwear and Doherty's own artwork; his drawings will be printed on limited edition T-shirts for both men and women. The collection will hit The Kooples stores and concessions in October this year."
I tell you all this as I love Pete Doherty and hope that this is part of a serious recovery for this talented boy-man. And also because there is a very secret part of me that wishes I was one of those Kooples people. Just for a day to see what it would be like. Then I will happily return to my own life. That's all. Enjoy.
