Cath - Good Use of Brown and Black

Cath loves her new leather jacket that sits somewhere between black and brown in colour. She has then teamed it so well with all her tan accessories and black basics.

New Online Magazine - GLOSSY

The folks over at StyleScoop are launching a new online fashion magazine - for which this is the September edition cover. Now the incredible CHEW THE MAGAZINE leads the way in this new publishing discipline, but the more the merrier say I in this environmentally conscious time. You can download it at www.glossymag.co.za on the first day or every month and it is totally FREE.

Lovely Stefania Morland Outfit

Although most of the summer collection was executed in white, there was some vibracy to the pretty show in the form of this print as well as some wonderful block colours. Note the styling on the shoes. Just lovely.

More Cute From Fashion Week

WIN: Tickets to ghd Revelations Fashion Event

Style Guide Cape Town is giving away FIVE pairs of tickets to one of the most exciting fashion events to take place in our city this year. All you have to do is comment below with your name and email address and what look you think is going to be stylish in the city this summer. I will then choose the best suggestions to win.
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE A PLACE AT THE EVENT AS ALL OTHERS WILL BE CHOSEN RANDOMLY.
Obviously you must be in Cape Town on the 3rd September 2009 and a reader of this blog to win.
The ghd revelations event is being held in collaboration with MAC cosmetics and local designers including the mighty David Tlale.
It is an interactive fashion event where you will be able to explore the living fashion scenes and get an intimate backstage view of what it takes to create highly stylized looks.
And of course a glass of champagne and a wonderful ghd goodie bag will be yours free with these tickets.
The competition closes at noon on Friday 28th August 2009 so all entries must be in by then. GOOD LUCK.
For more information on the event you can go to www.ghdstylediary.co.za

UPDATE: The competition is now closed and I would like to congratulate the lucky winners and thank everyone for their great input. Winners will be contacted via email with invitations and instructions. See you there! Please come and say hi.

Layering With Prints at Fashion Week

Caitlyn, Courtney, Pascal, Pippa and Lexi all used a combination of layered prints and solids to create stylish outfits for fashion week. Great hints here for creative winter dressing.

Fashion Week Colour Splashes

The colours of summer were in full flight this week - yellow, turquoise and cobalt. Sadly no coral. I am particularly fond of Thoki's home made puff ball skirt right up on top.

Sega in Chanel

With the Chanel movie coming out soon, fashion week is a bit giddy about all things Chanel. Even I have donned the pearls. But Sega here has actually poured herself into a glorious real Chanel outfit and graciously allowed us to capture it on film.

Ulrica and Chrisna at Fashion Week

Zara blouse with shoulder detail on the left - awesome. Want it. Vintage emerald green blouse on the right - awesome. Want it. Vintage Chloe boots - priceless. Must now go and meditate to clear my bitter, jealous aura.

More Fashion Week Boy Style

Mavuso and Morné up at the top with the trademark Stiaan outfit, Devon in sleek Dolce and Gabanna and Kurt with Burberry scarf and awesome Zara shoes. Umashan is wearing a C2 jacket with his turquoise skinnies, Sibusiso is totally rocking that boots and scarf vibe and Neo's vintage trousers make me wanna break it down now.
Can't stop this.

Trenery Now in Store at Woolies

EEEEK. Not sure what happened last night. Got giddy and spent money I don't have on beautiful things. I love beautiful things and Trenery at Woolworths is the daddy of simple, basic, beautiful fabric things. Two blouses and two dresses later, I have no idea how I will eat this month.
Dude.
Expensive.
But did I mention how beautiful the things are?

Portrait of a Stiaan

Last week designer Stiaan Louw was working on a charity project for 'Oak Couture' in the Company Gardens in Cape Town. I was passing through the Gardens and stopped for a moment to catch up and take this photo. It is my new favourite pic.

Puma Pop Up Store

Outside trendy beer hall &Union in Bree St, Puma opened a pop up store last week. I happened upon it after meeting with fashion photographer Simon for delicious cake at the Bird Boutique Cafe. [I do fear I have ruined him for life. He is now a cake man.] Lovely stuff on offer at the temporary store but scary expensive I thought. Always worth a look though.

Natalia - Style Assist

Everyone should have a style assist in their lives and mine is meeting me for breakfast today so we can chat about work. This is Natalia. Say hello nicely.

Of High Waists and Flat Caps

Not a look that just anyone could sell, but it works on him.

Some Fun This Weekend

So Friday night it was a civilised drink at the Mount Nelson Planet Bar before heading out for a late dinner. M and J looked great in their sharp jackets, jeans and heels with a bit of accessorising flare. Very civilised, as I said.

Until they had a few drinks. Can Not Be Trusted.

And then Saturday night there was some dancing and gatecrashing. But stupendous outfits. A is rocking a Michelle Ludek one-off electric blue dress and red tights, with red flower moulded ring and oversized clutch from Nine West. J is in her vintage fur gillet, French Connection tunic and killer cage heels from Zara - picked up for €20.
