I try not to bother people when they are busy with their groceries whilst trying to simultaneously keep a toddler happy. But Karen look was so perfectly casual glamour, that I had to ask if she would stop for me. Sometimes you can find style in the frozen foods section.

Niki - Willowbridge

I think that this is my favourite cardigan ever. Look at the ruched short sleeves. Together with the colour make this a great item to wear this season, layered for the weather. Niki has rather beautifully layered it over a sea green halterneck, clever girl.

Lynne - Tygervalley

Fashion is not just for the youth. Look at Lynne's lovely patent accessories - belt and bag. And the beads. These update her look beautifully for this season, without compromising on her personal style.

This is of course the very lovely Christiaan Gabriel du Toit, designer, who I had the fortune to meet the other evening. I actually approached the chap that he was chatting to, who was wearing this great jacket, skinny trousers and the glorious silver trainers.

I recognised CGDT and he could not have been more charming and gracious. Style shows its true colours.

Dineo - Woodstock

Fake fur, animal print and splashes of 80s colour. You may not love it but Dineo has a look that is brilliantly crafted and turns heads where ever she goes. This look defines an African aesthetic that has everything to do with personal style and refuses to be kept boxed in a rural/urban debate.

Gentlemen's Jackets

Frank and Zsolt demonstrate how to button up the shirt, throw on a blazer and look stylish and cool. They both stand out in a crowd of chaps who don't care to make an effort.

Opening - Michael Stevenson Gallery, Woodstock

Last week saw the opening of the brand new space that Michael Stevenson has set up for his fantastic collection of contemporary art, in the Buchanan Building on Sir Lowry Road in Woodstock.

What a gathering of style it was for the opening night! Sequins, stripes, and most significantly 101 ways to wear cool tights for winter, were on display in all the rooms as you moved through the space. A little slice of London, with an African twist, has been brought to Cape Town.

Sunday Brunch - Miss K, Green Point

All you want on a weirdly warm Sunday morning is good food, convivial company and a great atmosphere. All of which is available at Miss K on Main Road in Green Point.

Langebaan Style

Well, this holiday town on the west coast of Africa is somewhat lacking in what is generally perceived to be gracious style. That isn't to say that it is a town without appeal - far from it. I have just spent the last few days waking up to the sounds of the sea lapping at the beach outside my door, and wandering the dusty streets renovating all the wonderful old fishermen's cottages. However, there are still a lot of chaps with ponytails...

Julia, from Cape Town, did however, pull together a great casual look for the nights around the fire. Grey layering with a fabulous orange scarf that she had used as a sarong earlier in the day.
